Hope everyone had a lovely 4th of July! Ours looked to be disastrous but ended up being a pretty fun little day.
We started off by getting all set to drive to Ben’s parents’ house for their annual 4th of July party.
Being patriotic
Long story short, both of us woke up feeling icky due to a stomach virus. When our trip to Giant Eagle’s pharmacy section didn’t leave us (well…really me) any better, we opted to stay in Morgantown.
Most of our Fourth was spent sitting on the couch watching TV while we debated whether to make the trip. (Oh, and also watching the Hot Dog eating contest-which I do not recommend if you are feeling nauseous.)
Ultimately, we decided it was best not to infect others and we stayed in Morgantown to create our own little holiday. I even happened to have some flag-printed plates & napkins in my cabinets! See, there’s a reason I always have a stock of party supplies on hand.
By late afternoon I felt like eating again and was dead set on having 4th of July food, so we grilled cheeseburgers, cut watermelon, & I didn’t get sick!
After me succesfully being able to eat lunch, we hung out for a bit to let our stomachs settle & then met friends downtown. Afterward, we parted ways & Ben & I headed to the top of a parking garage to watch the fireworks.
Even though it wasn’t what we had originally planned, it was definitely a happy little holiday.
